Herobild - Andreas vor der Bühne und beim Live-Coaching von Tream backstage

My name is Andreas Ohnhaus, and I work with professional artists on tour — with the goal of keeping their voices powerful, resilient, and consistently reliable even under high stress.

As part of the touring team, I combine tour preparation, vocal performance coaching, preventive vocal health care, and acute support into a holistic care approach. This results in resilient routines, quick solutions, and vocal performance that artists, management, and production can rely on throughout the entire tour.

The goal is a voice that remains reliable night after night—and a production team that can work with maximum planning certainty.

References (Selection)

Tour Preparation & tour vocal coaching

Every tour presents different challenges—and every voice reacts differently to them. That’s why my coaching isn’t based on standard programs, but on a custom-developed performance system that adapts flexibly to the artist, the production, and the tour schedule.

A successful tour begins long before the first show. What matters isn’t just good vocal technique, but coaching that reliably works under the real-world demands of everyday touring. The setlist, show intensity, in-ear monitoring, recovery, physical strain, and mental performance all influence one another — my job is to balance these factors and develop a resilient system that ensures consistent performance.

Support may include, among other things,

  • Tour preparation tailored directly to the repertoire—aligned with the setlist, show structure, and production requirements
  • Custom-designed warm-ups and cool-downs — tailored to the voice, daily condition, and show day
  • Manual vocal therapy — to release functional tension and provide rapid relief before or after the show
  • Immediately effective adjustments to vocal technique — for greater stability, ease, and confidence under live conditions
  • Vocal-specific support for in-ear monitoring — in close coordination with the production team
  • Vocal Load Management – analysis and control of vocal strain throughout the entire tour
  • Performance Readiness – mental strategies for focus and confidence immediately before the show
  • Recovery & Regeneration – measures for sustainable recovery of the voice, body, and nervous system

Fast. Structured. Performance-oriented.

Emergency vocal coaching before the show

Quick decisions. Clear priorities. Concrete solutions.

If vocal problems arise shortly before a show, what’s needed isn’t a standard set of exercises, but a structured assessment of the situation. My job is to evaluate the voice’s performance capacity under time pressure, stabilize it in a targeted manner, and work together to develop a clear plan of action for show day.

Depending on the situation, I provide support on-site or remotely at short notice — using functional voice analysis, immediate adjustments to singing technique, manual treatment techniques, and individually tailored recovery measures.

The goal is to restore the voice’s performance capacity as best as possible under the given circumstances and to jointly assess what is responsibly feasible on show day.

In my work to date, artists have been able to complete their planned performances despite acute vocal problems. However, every situation is unique and requires a responsible assessment.

For voices that need to work

My job isn’t to change your sound. My job (tour vocal coaching) is to make sure you can reliably produce that sound at any time, even under the real-world demands of a tour.

Every voice reacts differently under stress. That’s why I don’t develop standard programs, but rather customized performance concepts that adapt flexibly to the artist, the production, and the tour schedule.

I work to identify vocal strain early on, prevent breakdowns, and maintain your voice’s performance capacity over the long term—so you can focus entirely on your show while on stage.

Specifically, this means:
• Customized performance concepts instead of standard programs
• Direct integration into the repertoire instead of isolated technical exercises
• Tour-ready routines that work even under time pressure
• Seamless integration into rehearsals, production, and showday procedures
• Discreet collaboration with the artist, management, and production team
• Quick decisions and clear communication when it counts

My five-pillar touring performance system:

Prepare

Prepare your voice specifically for the demands of touring, the studio, or production.

Perform

Ensure maximum stability, expressiveness, and efficiency during the show.

Recover

Recovery and workload management between shows.

Restore

Quick relief for acute vocal problems or periods of heavy strain.

Develop

Continuously improve and strengthen performance throughout the entire production period.

Additional data-driven analysis: Voice analysis with Praat

In addition, I use Praat to perform data-driven comparisons to supplement my acoustic assessment. This is not a substitute for medical diagnosis—but it helps me evaluate stress and changes more objectively and make solutions for everyday touring more reliable.

For the Music Industry and Live Productions

I work with professional artists and teams in the music industry—especially in areas where vocal reliability, consistency, and predictability are essential: arena productions, summer festivals, TV and live formats, and singing comedians.
